Experienced Ship Doctor Job – Luxury Cruise Ships
Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Ship Doctor to join the medical team onboard our luxury cruise ships. This role requires a high level of professional expertise, adaptability, and the ability to deliver high-quality medical care in an international and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to passengers and crew, including primary care, emergency response, and critical care management.
- Perform clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care in accordance with international medical standards.
- Manage and respond effectively to medical emergencies onboard, including trauma, cardiac events, and critical incidents.
- Ensure compliance with maritime health regulations and medical protocols as per international and Italian Flag requirements.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation of all cases.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals onboard and provide medical training to crew members when required.
- Support health promotion, disease prevention, and onboard public health initiatives.
Requirements
- Education: Appropriate Medical Degree with valid license to practice.
- Medical specialization in Anesthesia, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, or other relevant field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ post-graduate/post-registration clinical experience.
- At least 6 months full-time experience in emergency settings such as Emergency Room, ICU, or ambulance services.
- Valid certifications: ACLS, ATLS, APLS (or equivalent).
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work with medical software systems.
- Languages: Excellent English proficiency with minimum B2 level.

Legal & Professional Requirements
- Official Recognition of Educational Titles (Riconoscimento Titolo) obtained from the Italian Ministry of Health.
- Enrollment in the Italian Doctors’ Professional Order (Ordine Provinciale dei Medici Chirurghi ed Odontoiatri).
- Valid enrollment as a licensed Ship’s Doctor or Deputy Ship’s Doctor.
