Security (RSA) – Responsible Service of Alcohol Officer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Security Officer (RSA) – Responsible of Alcohol Service Officer to join aboard luxurious cruise ships. This role’s primary responsibility is to prevent anyone from becoming intoxicated, to prevent anyone under the age of 21 from obtaining or consuming alcohol, to ensure that alcohol is consumed in a safe and responsible manner without danger to passengers or crew, and to ensure that the service and consumption of alcohol are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- The Responsible Service of Alcohol Officer ensures the safe, compliant, and responsible service of alcohol onboard, protecting passengers, crew, and company standards. This role focuses on preventing intoxication, restricting alcohol access to underage individuals, and supporting bar staff in making informed service decisions. Assigned to specific bar locations, the RSA Officer monitors guest behavior, intervenes early when necessary, and ensures all alcohol‑related incidents are handled according to company procedures.
- Key responsibilities include supervising guest alcohol consumption, assisting service personnel in refusal-of-service decisions, ensuring refused guests do not obtain alcohol from others, and coordinating with Security and Medical teams when required. The RSA Officer maintains detailed daily reports and upholds a visible, consistent presence throughout designated operating hours.
- This position requires strong communication skills, solid knowledge of alcohol effects, and the ability to assess intoxication levels accurately. Candidates must be qualified Security Supervisors with completed RSA training modules and a commitment to safety and responsible conduct.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience
- High School Diploma; candidates must be 21+
- Basic STCW Training
- English language proficiency
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Completion of company RSA and RSA Customer Service training
- Knowledge of alcohol and drug effects on the body
- Ability to estimate reasonable alcohol consumption limits
- Commitment to Occupational Health & Safety policies
